As we’ve neared Halloween weekend, we’ve been seeing a few common decorating themes throughout the blogosphere. Whether you’re entertaining this weekend or you’re just feeling festive, we thought we’d share our favorite Halloween decor themes.

Spooky Halloween: Spiders and Skulls
Halloween doesn’t always have to be a night of terror, but sometimes a little spook can be special. Simple DIY projects like framing creepy diagrams can provide subtly scary decor.

Don’t limit yourself to a dark hallway or spooktacular centerpiece. Cobwebs can eerily grace any room—including a side table in the master bedroom:

Place inexpensive spider rings in unexpected and unnerving places on the tablescape, like the wine glasses below.

Chic Halloween: A Black and White Affair
Since orange isn’t universally flattering—especially in home decor—you may want to opt for an always chic palette: black and white! This DIY Halloween dinnerware project is an easily customizable way to show your spirit, sans orange.

What’s black, white and chic all over? This inspiration board, of course. Make use of black candlesticks and white pumpkins to acheive a similar look.

Glam Halloween: Haute Hues
By enlisting the help of nontraditional colors like purple and green, you can acheive a spooky atmosphere that’s glamorous, not gaudy. We like Gothic-influenced decor, seen below.
